Diane Burkhart
Founding Member

Diane Burkhart was born and raised in Trenton, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.  She moved to New Orleans where she raised a family and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of New Orleans.  She then moved near Baton Rouge where she graduated first in her class from Southern University Law Center.

After law school, Diane began serving the people of Louisiana as an attorney with the state legislature and later exclusively with the State Senate.  During her career with the Senate, Diane was widely known for expertise in areas of education policy and legislative drafting, but she also provided policy leadership in a variety of areas, including criminal law, gaming law, governmental ethics, and election law.

After 28 years of dedicated service, she retired as Administrator of Legislative Services at the Senate.  Subsequent to retirement, she served as special counsel to the president of the Senate to assist the Senate during the newly elected Governor Jindal’s special session to redo the Code of Governmental Ethics.  She was also recruited to serve on the executive staff of Governor Blanco as her Education Policy Advisor.  Since her time working for the state government, Diane has worked as a consultant for a variety of agencies, public and private.

In 2015, Diane Burkhart established Condon, Wood & Burkhart with her law partners Garrett Condon and Ray Wood.  Her practice focuses on end of life planning advice, a topic she has long addressed with family and friends.  She also serves as general counsel to the firm on any matters of unique or critical importance.

Diane's two daughters are both graduates of Auburn University, and Diane continues to be an loyal fan of Auburn and Auburn Tiger football.  Diane loves to travel; some of her favorite  visits have included Paris and Kenya.
